Astonishment at Ancelotti’s mystery decision before facing Manchester City
Real Madrid is preparing to play the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Manchester City on Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium, and hopes to achieve a victory with any result to snatch a pass to the next round after a 3-3 draw in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Carlo Ancelotti’s decision today, Monday, raised suspicion in the English newspapers, as The Sun newspaper described it as a mysterious and exciting decision and recalled a similar incident that happened to Real Madrid in 2015.
Ancelotti had announced Real Madrid’s list to face Manchester City next Wednesday and decided to include a player suspended due to the accumulation of warnings, even though he will not be able to play, which is a mysterious and incomprehensible decision until now.
Real Madrid’s list is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Lunin, Kepa, Fran.
Defense line: Carvajal, Militao, Nacho, Lucas Vazquez, Fran Garcia, Rudiger and Mendy.
Midfield: Bellingham, Kroos, Modric, Camavinga, Valverde, Chouamini, Ceballos and Arda Guler.
Offensive line: Vinicius Junior, Rodrigo, Joselu and Ibrahim.
Thus, Ancelotti has included Aurelien Tchouameni in the list, even though he is suspended after receiving his third yellow card in the tournament during the first leg, and therefore he will not be able to play in the second leg.
The Sun said that Real Madrid bid farewell to the Spanish King’s Cup in 2015 after fielding a suspended player, Denis Sharchev, against Cadiz in the round of 32, and despite submitting two petitions at the time, the decision was made to exclude the white team from the tournament.
Of course, this mistake will not be repeated against Manchester City, as Ancelotti will not commit such an act, but the decision to include a suspended player in the list remains ambiguous and questionable.
