Incredible clip of Xabi Alonso shows Alex Grimaldo how to take a free-kick.. and gets instant results
Xabi Alonso showed off his amazing coaching abilities in a video that went viral on social media.
Alonso is the most in-demand coach in world football today after a hugely successful season with Bayer Leverkusen that saw them 10 points clear of Bayern Munich in the race for the Bundesliga title.
Liverpool and Bayern Munich sought to sign the 42-year-old coach, but he is set to announce his decision to stay with the Bundesliga leaders for another season.
Alonso has helped improve a number of Leverkusen players this season and a clip released by the club showed off his individual abilities in training.
Left-back Alex Grimaldo was practicing free kicks and shot a weak shot that was easily blocked by the goalkeeper.
Then Alonso went towards him and gave him some instructions while making a lot of gestures with his hand.
Grimaldo then changed his approach and directed a stunning shot full of movement on his way to find the top corner.
It was an instant result for the full-back who has been one of Europe’s best performers this season.
The 28-year-old scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions in one memorable season with Leverkusen.
Wait for it…
