Simeone requests to sign Perez’s right “eye” at Real Madrid for Atletico Madrid

The Spanish newspaper El Nacional said that the Argentine coach, Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico Madrid, asked his team’s management to make every effort to sign a Real Madrid player whom the newspaper called “Florentino Perez’s right eye.”

Atletico Madrid occupies fourth place in the Spanish League standings and plays the eighth final of the Champions League, in which it lost the first leg to Inter Milan with a clean goal in Italy, and is also in the semi-finals of the Spanish King’s Cup.

Simeone continues to look for ways to improve the team that has developed since his arrival and which has changed to more vertical football. He has too many players to do that, and far from staying in the archetype of a defensive team, he has decided to train his players to play more attacking football.

However, the Argentine coach needs more depth in the squad, and this is where interest appears in signing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid, a player who fits what Cholo is looking for.

Dani Ceballos is one of the players whose future at Real Madrid is frankly delicate. The Spanish player was one of those outstanding accounts with the club, as his contract expired at the end of last summer. He eventually got his contract renewed, but his negotiations started late and sparked all kinds of rumours.

The signing of Jude Bellingham and the few opportunities offered by Carlo Ancelotti in the same season made him think about leaving, but he is one of Florentino Perez’s right eyes.

Against all odds, Ceballos decided to stay at Real Madrid with the promise of much greater importance. But words are carried by the wind and Ancelotti has already shown him that he cannot rely on him.

The truth is that Real Madrid has an excess of midfielders and the former Betis player is last on the Italian coach’s list of priorities. In fact, Arda Guler and Luka Modric, who also don’t get many minutes, start ahead of him, and Atletico Madrid wants to take advantage of that situation.

Therefore, they are willing to pay €15 million for the midfielder, the amount they are asking for at the Santiago Bernabéu to open the doors to his departure. Enrique Cerezo, in agreement with Simeone, actually considered the possibility of signing him last season at no cost, but ultimately ended up having to renew.

Now, after a strong blow from reality, Ceballos will not see his departure as a bad thing, and neither will Ancelotti, because he knows that with him in charge, he will not be a starter.
