Real Madrid in talks to bring back loan player

Real Madrid will have to open talks in the January transfer window to bring back one of their loan players to compensate for the absence of David Alaba for the rest of the season, after he suffered a cruciate ligament tear.

Alaba suffered an injury in Real Madrid’s last match against Villarreal, and the club announced that the Austrian player was suffering from a torn cruciate ligament injury.

In an official statement on the Real Madrid website, it was confirmed that Alaba underwent successful surgery today, Wednesday, on the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee under the supervision of the team doctor.

During the next few days, Alaba will begin his rehabilitation program in order to return in the coming months to training first and then official matches.

It is worth noting that Alaba is the third Real Madrid player to suffer a cruciate ligament tear, after Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, since the beginning of the current season.

Therefore, Real Madrid wants to bring back its defender Rafa Marin, taking advantage of the good relations with Deportivo Alaves, where Marcos Llorente and Antonio Blanco made the same move that Marin did in the past. AS newspaper revealed that there is no recovery clause in Marin’s loan contract, and therefore Real Madrid will have to negotiate his return.

Alaves are not ready to lose Marin either. The centre-back has played 993 minutes, and is in the top ten on the team in terms of minutes played. The Basque side also lost Alexander Seidler to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and Luis Garcia Plaza will no doubt be reluctant to see a second key defender exit.

There is no doubt that Real Madrid could make it worth Alaves’ interest, and would likely be at a cheaper price than the cost of bringing in a defender from elsewhere. By doing so, they would be against the wishes of Carlo Ancelotti, who has told the club he wants an experienced defender. Marin has performed well this season, but he is still in his first season in the elite.
