Guardiola shows his obsession with Real Madrid midfielder: “If they do not renew your contract.. come to Man City”
Pep Guardiola has in his Manchester City one of the best squads in the world, with a multitude of variants and almost every possible profile of footballers. However, in recent months, his spinal cord has been noticeably weakened by two very relevant facts.
The first was the departure of Ilkay Gündogan to FC Barcelona , who, apart from being a tremendously valuable footballer for the team, was the captain of the group. With the market still open, but the season already underway, another critical piece of news arrived: Kevin de Bruyne was injured, requiring surgery to recover.
In this sense, the club acted and, at Pep Guardiola ‘s request , signed Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton to alleviate the loss of the Belgian midfielder. However, a slightly different profile to the ones he has in the squad could be put into action in the months before the end of the current season and it is not precisely the first time that his possible arrival at the Etihad Stadium has been discussed : Toni Kroos.
The German midfielder of Real Madrid , like every season since he is 30 years old, ends his contract at the end of the current season and, despite being a legend of the club and still one of its best footballers in the squad, obviously, there are certain doubts in his decision to continue.
There are not a few cases that have ended surprisingly with their departure from the Santiago Bernabéu free of contract and, for example, Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema left the club despite being a true icon of their colors. The fact is that, already during the winter and spring months of the last season, Guardiola was interested in recruiting the German for his City .
Kroos is a much more positional profile in the interiors that now occupy the middle of the citizen field and, put to buy, he would be more comparable to the positional temperament of Rodri than to the rather more offensive footballs of Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. In addition, Kroos , despite proving capable, is not an undisputed starter at Real Madrid and Pep Guardiola would indeed offer him this role at Manchester City.
The variable of minutes already favors Pep Guardiola, but to stop worrying, Florentino Pérez has a very recent precedent of Casemiro and his desire to change things now that he has passed his thirties. Kroos, two years older, could experience the same desire in a team that, let’s remember, comes from winning the Premier League and the Champions League during the last season.
