The stock market reveals the value of the huge Real Madrid signing: 250 million euros for one player
Real Madrid have finally announced the signing of Judd Bellingham, in their first big addition this summer following the return of Fran Garcia and Brahim Diaz after their stints at Rayo Vallecano and AC Milan respectively.
The signing of the British player comes to deepen the renewal that the Madrid club has carried out in the midfield for years, with contracts such as Valverde, Camavinga and Tchoameni. The deal cost huge money, but Bellingham is actually white.
Moreover, with so many details about the terms of the deal, far more than usual in this type of private agreement. Clubs are reluctant to talk about numbers, and it often happens that different numbers are announced by the seller and the buyer, as each team competes to be in the best possible position.
This happened with the transfer of Morata to Chelsea from Real Madrid in 2017: the white team announced that the deal cost 80 million euros, while the “blues” announced that they had only paid 64 million euros.
But in this case, the status of Borussia Dortmund as a listed company forced it to refer the terms of the agreement to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, even before it was signed, and this allowed the deal numbers to be announced.
Real Madrid paid 103 million euros to sign Bellingham, plus up to 30% of the 103 million based on the goals the player achieves for the Whites.
The 30% is equal to 30.9 million, that is, signing at most could cost Madrid 133.9 million euros, to which must be added his salary (total 120 million in six seasons). In total, the transaction could amount to more than 250 million.
