Strong comment from Rio Ferdinand on Vinicius’ crisis in Valencia: “I see that he needs help”
The match between Valencia and Real Madrid caught fire as it neared its end. Not in terms of play, but with a brawl that started after Vinicius Jr. was racially abused from the stands. The match was stopped, and the Brazilian player pointed at the fan who insulted him, and the National Police removed him from the stadium.
Minutes later, the Real Madrid player, who later attacked La Liga, ended up being sent off on social media, just as Carlo Ancelotti did at the press conference in Mestalla.
Then messages of support for the Brazilian poured in on social networks, and in England, Rio Ferdinand called for the unity of the main football players on the planet to stand up to racism.
The former Manchester United and England player questioned the expulsion of Vinicius, indicating that what happened in Mestalla was not the first time that the Brazilian had been subjected to racist insults in the Spanish League.
Rio Ferdinand said through his Instagram account: “Who protects Vinicius Junior in Spain?” “He received a red card after being grabbed by the neck and received racist abuse during the match… What the hell is that?”
He added, “How many times do we have to see this young man put up with this shit? I see the pain, the discomfort, I see he needs help, but the authorities are doing nothing to help him.”
And he ended: “People should come together and demand more from the authorities who control our game. Nobody deserves that, but they allow it. A common approach is needed regarding this matter, otherwise they will go back to hiding it again.”
