Xabi Alonso asks Real Madrid to get rid of Ancelotti’s favorite player

Xabi Alonso has officially taken over as Real Madrid manager, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti, who left after a disappointing season to begin a new coaching career with the Brazilian national team.
The Spanish coach, who requested to bring his arrival to Real Madrid forward before the Club World Cup to test his players’ abilities before the start of next season, is seeking to fill gaps in the team and bolster weak lines.
Real Madrid have already signed Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool and Bournemouth defender Dean Huysen and are looking to sign more.
One position that clearly needs strengthening is left-back, which is why Real Madrid is working on signing Alvaro Carreras from Portuguese club Benfica.
According to sources close to Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso has asked the club to get rid of French player Ferland Mendy because he is not convinced about him and does not want him to continue with the team.
Real Madrid fear they will not be able to find a buyer for the 29-year-old due to his repeated injuries, but they will put him on the transfer market anyway.
Ferland Mendy was an important player for Ancelotti despite his inconsistent performances, frequent injuries, and refusal to sell him on several occasions.
