Manchester City chairman threatens to sign Real Madrid star before Club World Cup

Manchester City will be looking to strengthen their squad in this transfer window, starting in the run-up to the Club World Cup. The English club wants to regain a team capable of competing with the best in the world.

Guardiola has requested several transfers to boost the squad’s level, and it seems City will grant them.

“I can tell you today that we have clearly identified exactly who the targets are, in what positions, and we have our clear number one option, our clear number two option (…) We will continue with our work, and it will be very clear and fast. Our objective is to try to be ready with the new squad for the Club World Cup,” Manchester City chairman Al Mubarak said on the club’s website.

He doesn’t name names, but Rodrygo is one of the players City have in their sights, and the announcement that they’ve identified a potential signing is a serious warning to Real Madrid. So far, the Merengue club hasn’t received any offers, but they’re prepared to face any situation. If Rodrygo wants to leave, he’ll have to bring a good offer.

Real Madrid have Rodrygo Goes under contract until June 30, 2028. They’re not willing to sell him because they believe he has enormous potential. But if the player isn’t happy or wants to leave, they’ll open the door , as long as he brings an offer that matches his contractual situation and market value.

For now, this hasn’t happened. Rodrygo hasn’t told Real Madrid he wants to leave, nor has he made any public statements that would suggest this is going to happen. But after what happened last year with a couple of interviews and the end of this season… Anything can happen.
