James Rodriguez bombshell about to explode: he’s already in Madrid
Several European teams have shown interest in Colombian James Rodriguez after his resurgence in the Copa America where he was named best player for his instrumental role in Colombia’s run to the final where they lost to Argentina.
The big leap in his career came when he signed for Real Madrid in the summer of 2014, a decade ago, after shining at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He spent four seasons with the Whites, shining between 2014 and 2017, scoring goals and providing assists.
At Real Madrid, he played a total of 125 matches, scoring 37 goals and making 42 assists, and he stood out particularly in the Champions League, which witnessed his best edition.
The Colombian has just turned 33 and showed great form at the last Copa America. The last teams he played for since leaving Everton in 2021 were not the best: Al Rayyan, Olympiacos and Sao Paulo.
Rayo Vallecano’s plan continues. On July 31, Marca reported that Madrid were considering signing James Rodriguez. Steps have been taken and the player is already in Madrid.
The club needs to find the necessary economic formulas, as it did with Tigre, to balance the operation, but the player welcomes playing in La Liga and being able, at the same time, to live in the Spanish capital. James will arrive for free after ending his contract in Brazil more than a month ago and his salary will be met with “external” help.
