Carvajal asks Spain teammate to join Real Madrid: “I tell him every day… we need him”
Dani Carvajal is living a decisive moment with the Spanish national team as he awaits facing England today, Sunday, in the European Nations Cup final, and he is looking forward to winning it for the first time in his career.
Carvajal missed France’s Euro 2016 semi-final match in Germany due to suspension after being sent off in the quarter-final against Germany.
In a short interview with Spanish radio station COPE, Carvajal spoke about several issues, including the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or and his constant request for his national team teammate to join Real Madrid.
On the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or if he wins the Euro with Spain, Carvajal said: “It doesn’t even cross my mind, it’s not something I think about. But if the time comes and they vote for me, I’ll be the happiest person in the world.”
“On the other hand, as I said: I have overcome very difficult moments and I feel very proud of that. It is not easy to suffer injuries, but now I am enjoying every moment on the pitch and things are going very well. I hope we can win the European Championship on Sunday, which would mean a lot to me.”
On his national team teammate who Real Madrid want to sign: “I tell Rodri every day. Leave Manchester, there is no sun, come to Madrid, we need you, and you are from here, from Madrid.”
Carvajal revealed Rodri’s response when he was asked to join Real Madrid: “He says to me, ‘Well, I have a contract,’ and that’s what makes me stop, that’s what delays me, but it would be a good signing, without a doubt. Being Spanish, in Madrid I think it would be a perfect fit.”
