Guardiola’s tailgating response to the saying, “Real Madrid is lucky”

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s coach, responded to a question in the press conference claiming that Real Madrid is a lucky team and that it did not deserve to beat his team today.

Real Madrid had qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League after it succeeded in beating Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on penalties 4/3 after the end of the original and extra time in a positive draw 1/1.

After the match, Guardiola said in the press conference: “I would have preferred to win, but congratulations to Real Madrid.” We gave it our all and played exceptionally well in all departments. “Unfortunately we couldn’t win – that’s how it is.”

He added: “Football is about scoring goals and they did that a little better than us in the penalty shootout. They are in the semi-finals, we are not. Small margins. This is the situation. Sometimes you win on penalties. “Sometimes not.”

In response to the saying that Real Madrid is lucky, Pep replied: “Johan Cruyff said luck doesn’t exist, I agree with him. Losing like this hurts. We feel bad tonight but we have done all we can. What can I say to these players. We have shown we can play against a big side like Real Madrid. What more could we have done? I don’t know what else to say.”
