FIFA threatens to expel Brazil from international competitions
Bad times for ‘soccer’. FIFA has threatened to exclude the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and all its clubs from international competitions .
FIFA does not tolerate interference of any kind by the Government and the trigger for this series of warnings would be the decision, by the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, to remove Ednaldo Rodrigues from the presidency of the CBF and forced elections to be called. within 30 days.
“FIFA member associations must manage their affairs independently and without undue influence from any type of third parties,” reads the letter that FIFA and CONMEBOL have sent to the ‘CBF’. And none of them recognize the mandate of interim José Perdiz, who insists on holding elections imminently.
“If the CBF were eventually suspended by the relevant FIFA body, it would lose all its membership rights with immediate effect and until the suspension is lifted by FIFA. This would also mean that the CBF, representative teams and clubs would no longer have the right to participate in any competition or international competition while suspended,” the letter adds.
A suspension that, if confirmed [does not seem easy], could ‘veto’ Brazil’s participation in the Copa América to be played this summer.
Both FIFA and CONMEBOL will visit Brazil the first week of January “to meet with those involved, examine the current situation and work together to find a solution.” Furthermore, they insist in their letter that “they do not proceed with electoral plans without their authorization” , as revealed by ‘UOL’.
José Perdiz’s response
Curiously, the CBF auditor remains in his 13: “It is with satisfaction and respect that we receive this new letter from FIFA. I see it as a positive sign, but, as determined by Justice, I must call the elections within the established period.” ” It is necessary to conduct this stage observing the legal frameworks, in line with the statute of the Entity itself and of FIFA.”
