Gareth Bale warns Bellingham: “They will beat you and make you a puppet at Real Madrid”
Jude Bellingham’s start to the season at Real Madrid is having a huge impact in the United Kingdom. The midfielder takes over the British pride in the white club, which Gareth Bale starred for a decade.
The Welshman was a key player in winning four Champions Leagues, with goals in three finals, but he does not hide that he had problems during his time at the Bernabéu. Problems derived above all from his dealings with the Spanish media.
So Bale, retired since January 2023, is clear about what advice he would give to Bellingham: “The biggest advice is to play Madrid’s game. Because if you don’t play it and do what the media wants, talk to them, you are basically a puppet, you will receive a lot of beating”.
“You saw many of the ‘Galáticos’ act like that, do what the press wanted. That was probably my problem, because I didn’t want to do that. I just wanted to play football and go home”.
“That made things difficult for me and made them attack me a little more. So what you have to do is to talk after the games, and make sure you speak in Spanish …”.
