Rodrygo and Camvinga send a clear message to Ancelotti
Two Real Madrid players have expressed their frustration with the roles they have been asked to play with the team this season.
Firstly, Rodrygo spoke of his dislike of the outright striker position he is sometimes asked to fill at Madrid. Then it was Eduardo Camavinga who declared that he was not a fan of the left-back position as he excelled in cover.
“It’s always important to be able to play in different roles,” Rodrygo explained. I’ve always made it clear that I have a talent for playing on the wings, and I don’t like playing as a number nine, even though I should do that at the club. Here in the national team, I can move all over the field, which helps me play.”
For his part, Camavinga was tired of being repeatedly asked about his position, saying: “I get asked about that every day. I am someone who plays for the team and when I am needed. “I did not know this position before, but this is where I adapted, whether with the French national team or with Real Madrid.”
“But I don’t particularly like this position. I think everyone knows that, but if I have to play there, I will do it, even if it doesn’t necessarily make me happy. “I’m still a midfielder.”
Carlo Ancelotti’s famously impeccable nature, coupled with both players stressing they are happy to adapt to their team, means the comments are unlikely to cause too much tension in Madrid. However, Rodrygo would do well to keep his coach happy, as Ancelotti will almost certainly be his next coach at international level from next summer.
