Xabi Alonso’s clause that will be activated if he called by one of these 3 teams

Coach Xabi Alonso is considered one of the keys to the success of Bayer Leverkusen 2023/24 , which is first alone in the Bundesliga with six wins in seven games . The former Real Madrid footballer has been linked in the last week with the white club to succeed Carlo Ancelotti in the Madrid coach.

As revealed by the German newspaper BILD , the player from Tolosa would have agreed with Leverkusen on a termination clause in his contract valid only for the call-up of three former clubs in which the midfielder played throughout his career as a player: Real Madrid, Bayern de Munich and Liverpool . These three teams could acquire the services of the Spanish coach despite the contract he has with the Bundesliga club until 2026.

The clause would come into force from next summer , at which time these clubs could start to sign the Leverkusen coach. However, the legendary coach of Dortmund and Bayern, Ottmar Hitzfeld , remains confident that Xabi Alonso’s future lies in the west German club: “My recommendation for Xabi is that he stays in Leverkusen until 2025. I think that “he should repay the club for giving him the opportunity to work as a coach in the Bundesliga.”

Despite this, Hitzfeld is aware of the difficulty of rejecting a proposal from Real Madrid, even more so knowing the Spanish coach’s past: “Of course, it is difficult to say no to Real Madrid if there really is an offer.”
