The reason why Rodrygo took the penalty v Celta Vigo: His teammate gave it to him!
The penalty taken, and missed, in the 68th minute by Rodrygo in yesterday’s clash at Balaídos brought controversy due to the unusual revelation of coach Carlo Ancelotti after the order of shooters he had designated for this had been altered season.
Of the players who were on the field, according to the Italian coach, the one indicated in the first instance was Luka Modric , and not Rodrygo. But, the Brazilian was neither impulsive, nor was he selfish, nor was he rebellious: he simply took the penalty for the dispute at the express request of the aforementioned Modric , who gave him the shot.
For this reason, and for nothing else, Rodrygo shot, with the bad luck that he ran into a ‘save’ by Iván Villar.
In addition, there is the circumstance that Modric had barely been on the field for five minutes, an event that perhaps made the Croatian not feel comfortable yet and gave it up to Rodrygo.
Finally, we must remember that the penalty, which by the way was not for many, was given to the Brazilian player himself.
