Ancelotti reveals who should have taken the penalty Rodrygo missed v Celta Vigo

Carlo Ancelotti explained the reason for his outrage after Rodrygo missed a penalty kick against Celta Vigo in the match that ended with Real Madrid’s victory with a clean goal scored by Judd Bellingham in the third round of the Spanish League.

After the match, the Italian coach answered the questions of the journalists:

Injuries: “Billingham is fine. Vinicius had a problem, we’ll see what he has in the next few hours. There was discomfort in the calf muscle.”

Vinicius’s first injury, what caused it? Is there fear?: “He wanted to continue, so I don’t think it was too serious. I think he will not play the next match against Getafe and will have a rest on the international break.”

What do you think of Celta Vigo?: “Defensively, Celta played very well. We didn’t find space behind us. Up front, we had more difficulty because they played very well in defence.

How did you see Kepa?: “Kepa played well. The team has played well. The clean sheet was not a victory for quality, it was for commitment because we faced many negatives but we tried until the end.

Is the attack covered?: “The attack is covered. The numbers prove it. We scored six goals without Karim and without Vinicius. We have the resources. I thought of involving Brahim, but I preferred to maintain a balance to avoid surprises.”

Bellingham: “Goals are not his main virtue, but he does a good job because without the ball he moves well and is intelligent.”

Reflections after Vinicius’ injury: “The team shows that it is an integrated team. If we can win without Courtois, Militao and Vinicius, then the team is well formed. They did a good job.”

The penalty that Rodrygo missed: “They don’t have the freedom to make a decision. I told Valverde that Modric has to pay it back. I do not know what happened. They chose Rodrygo and I didn’t have the time to tell them that Modric had to shoot.”

Are you angry about that?: “I’m a little angry. It may be a misunderstanding. At this time it was difficult to communicate that to the players.”
