Asensio’s next destination after confirming his departure from Real Madrid
The Spanish newspaper Marca, familiar with the news of Real Madrid, said that Marco Asensio, the winger of the white team, had a foot and a half outside the club’s walls, after negotiations to renew his contract faltered.
And the newspaper reported that a meeting held yesterday, Friday, between Asensio’s agents and Jose Angel Sanchez, Real Madrid’s sports director, resulted in negative results, and by a large percentage, the decision will be a week later to leave the Spanish winger at the end of the season with the end of his contract.
The newspaper justified the failure of Asensio’s contract renewal negotiations by saying that the player did not like his athletic situation, as he enjoyed a secondary role in Ancelotti’s plans and did not enter the starting line-up only a few times throughout the season.
Should Asensio’s departure be confirmed, the Spaniard would end a seven-season career with Real Madrid, in which he won 17 trophies, including three Champions Leagues. His arrival at the Whites in the 16-17 season after a year on loan at Espanyol had an astonishing effect.
After Cristiano’s departure, in the 18-19 season he was expected to step forward as a starting player, but things did not turn out as expected. In the summer of 2019 came a serious knee injury that prevented him from playing for 10 months and since then he fought unsuccessfully to regain his place in the team, but the amazing appearances of Vinicius, Rodrygo and Valverde blocked his path.
And according to Marca newspaper, Asensio’s closest destination after leaving Real Madrid is the English club Aston Villa, where Unai Emery asked to strengthen his team – which performed amazingly in the last period of the season – with the Spanish winger.
